What Happens at First STEP?
When you and your child arrive at First STEP for an evaluation, you will meet with the interviewer and the medical examiner who will talk to you about what is going to happen.
Evaluations at First STEP Resource Center may involve professionals from multiple agencies. Only professionals that are directly involved in the investigation observe the interview. This is done to create a safe place for your child to talk in private with the interviewer.
You may bring a support person to wait with you during this time. Before and after the interview, you will have an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns with the professionals.
