1. Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass

In this combined restrictive and melabsorptive procedure, stapling creates a small stomach pouch. The remainder of the stomach is not removed, but is completely stapled shut and divided from the stomach pouch. The outlet from this newly formed pouch empties directly into the lower portion of the jejunum (part of the small intestine), thus bypassing calorie consumption.

The Roux en Y Gastric Bypass is considered the gold standard around the country and the most common weight-loss surgery. The results of the surgery are obtained by restricting food intake and causing a minimal amount of malabsorption.

Studies show that after five years, nearly three-quarters of the patients have maintained a 70% loss of thier excess weight. In addition, over 95% of all weight-related health problems are relieved by one year after the operation, such as:
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Degenerative Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • GERD
  • High Blood Cholestrol

As with any surgical procedure, results may vary depending on a patient's ability to follow nutritional and fitness recommendations.

2. Adjustable Gastric Banding

Restrictive procedure where an adjustable band is placed around the upper portion of the stomach restricting how much food the stomach can hold. The lap band can be adjusted to suit your situation and can be removed if necessary.

Lap Band
The LAP-BAND®  System is the only weight-loss surgery that is adjustable and reversible. During the minimally invasive surgery, the adjustable gastric band is inserted and wrapped around the patient's stomach much like a wristwatch.
The band reduces the stomach capacity and restricts the amount of food that can be consumed at one time without stomach cutting and stapling or gastrointestinal re-routing to bypass normal digestion.
