Understanding Your Hospital Bill

Thank you for choosing St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center. The Hospital staff appreciates the opportunity to serve your health care needs. Through our complete network of health care services, we believe we provide you with the finest technological and human resources available. To help you better understand the types of services and treatments rendered to you or a family member, enclosed is a Final Bill. The Final Bill does not include charges for physician fees such as radiology, pathology and anesthesiology. You will receive separate billings for these services from the physicians. To continue providing the best healthcare services, we need your understanding and cooperation regarding our Financial Policy. To make the process easier for you to understand, we have highlighted important information related to the Hospitals policies that you will need to know.

Hospital Payment Policy

All patients are responsible for the cost of services received at the Hospital and other affiliates. As a courtesy service, and to assist you in the satisfaction of your responsibility to the Hospital, we will bill your private insurance company and/or Medicare/Medicaid for you. Please review the insurance billing information on your Final Bill. If any of the billing information is incorrect, please contact us immediately. Your balance is due in full within thirty (30) days from your receipt of the Final Bill or final insurance payment. If you are unable to pay your balance in full the Hospital offers several payment options and special programs to assist you. Please contact the Hospital to discuss your account at your earliest convenience.

Special Programs

We proudly offer financial assistance programs, including Charity Care, to our patients:  

  • Charity Care Program -If you have questions about or need assistance with paying this bill, please contact us as soon as possible. Please ask to speak to a Self Pay Representative at 1.866.356.6658.
  • Medical Assistance Programs The Hospital has staff that can assist you or a family member with application or qualification for medical programs. For more information or to make an appointment, please contact the Medical Assistance Program Coordinator at 406.329.2706.
  • Medication Assistance Programs The Hospital has staff that can assist you or a family member with application or qualification for medication assistance programs. For more information or to make an appointment, please contact the Indigent Pharmacy Coordinator at 406.329.1692.

Payment Options

The Hospitals Payment Options are outlined below: 

  • Discount Program You may be eligible to receive a discount on your bill. If your self pay account balance is paid in full within thirty (30) days of Final Bill or final insurance payment, you are eligible for a ten percent (10%) discount. In order to take advantage of this discount, you must contact your Self Pay Representative within the thirty (30) day timeframe to verify the balance and date due.   • St. Patrick Hospital will carry self pay account balances for no longer than six (6) months, interest free. Monthly payment amounts must be sufficient to resolve all self pay account balances within the 6-month timeframe and be made through a Self Pay Representative.   • St. Patrick Hospital offers FirstCare Loans through First Interstate Bank offering non-secured loans with competitive interest rates on self pay balances over $1,000 for initial loans or $500 for an Add-On.
  • Cash, checks, and money order are accepted.
  • Credit and Debit Cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover [via mail and telephone] or online.
  • Employee Payroll Deduction Plan for St. Patrick Hospital employees.
