St. Patrick Hospital’s Involvement

This presentation outlines St. Patrick Hospital’s involvement with the CATCH program:

Your Local CATCH Team

Lisa Tims, CATCH Coordinator, Classroom and P.E.

Lisa Tims, a native Montanan, has been a senior health specialist at the Missoula City-County Health Department since 2000. She has spent her professional career improving health literacy on a wide array of topics including nutrition, tobacco, osteoporosis, obesity, and oral health. Her various experiences have prepared her to expertly coordinate Missoula’s CATCH program. Additionally, Lisa’s strong connections with Partnership Health Center, public and private schools, the Montana University System, and a network of recreational sites bring in a steady stream of volunteers and opportunities for CATCH. Because The University of Montana has a strong health promotion program, Missoula is brimming with talented health promotions specialists. Even against this competitive backdrop, however, Lisa has outshined her peers and is developing a reputation as a mentor and leader in her field.

Marya Bruning, RD, LN, CATCH Dietitian, Cafeteria and Home

Marya Bruning has been a registered dietitian (R.D.) since 2001, when she graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Food and Nutrition. She joined the Missoula CATCH Team in 2007, and her role is to help schools’ food service directors make healthful and tasty changes to their menus, recipes, and ingredients. Marya also helps schools reach out to families with the CATCH messages of heart-healthy eating and fun physical activity for kids and adults. Prior to working as the CATCH dietitian, Marya worked as a clinical dietitian in Missoula and Seattle and as the campus dietitian at The University of Montana. She has earned a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management and a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association.

Laura Balis, CATCH Intern

Laura Balis, a graduate student in The University of Montana’s Health and Human Performance department, joined the Missoula CATCH team in June 2008. She's been hard at work developing and refining a new physical activity program for C.S. Porter Middle School and co-teaching classroom lessons at local elementary schools. During the summer months, she was an invaluable leader of CATCH Kids Club activities at Missoula Parks & Rec and Flagship summer programs.
